It’s a GIRL!!!

Our little bundle of joy came on Wednesday, October 13th at 7:21 p.m. She weighed 7 lbs. 12oz. and was 20 inches long.  She was rosy pink and eyes wide open, very alert, and came with a head full of hair!  Those 40 weeks of heartburn really paid off!  She’s absolutely gorgeous (I know I’m biased, but I have pictures to prove it), and has stolen all of our hearts.  Her grandparents, great grandma can’t get enough of her, and neither can my husband and I.

So we were a little sneaky when it came time to have her, we didn’t tell anyone I was going to be induced.  I went in for my weekly check up on Monday and all of a sudden there was a spike in my blood pressure and protein in my urine.  I’d never had any issues throughout my entire pregnancy until that day.  The doctor checked my cervix and I was 0 cm. dilated.  Awesome, right? I thought for sure I would be at least 1 cm. with all the pressure I was feeling!  So the doctor decided we’d better induce because he didn’t want me to develop preclampsia.  So we made a date for 4 p.m. for the next day.  We were so excited to finally meet this babe.

Tuesday comes and we go to the hospital with overnight bags, pillows, and my birthing ball in hand, we check in, they get my IV going and I get my first round of prostaglandin at 7:45, then the 2nd at 11:45 (btw, my cervix is still at 0 cm. at this point), and finally my 3rd round at 3:45.  At this point I am starting to feel little contractions and am doing my visualization exercises, like I am totally seeing my cervix open because I am convinced this baby will be here by noon…yeah right!  So the pitocin comes at 7:30 a.m. they start on a super slow drip because everyone is different and some people only need 3 mg and others 5mg…I am having contractions but not feeling them at all.  All the while baby and I have great heart rates and my blood pressure is perfect.  At around 6:00 p.m. when I’m on 18 mg of pitocin and the contractions are stacking up on top of each other, I think something is happening, even if I am only 2 cm. dilated, they can rupture my bag and get this show on the road…the doctor comes in at 7 p.m. to  check progress and my cervix is open to a big fat ZERO!!!! It has softened and effaced about 60%, but absolutely no dilation at all.  At that point my doctor starts talking c-section…he said he could send me home, but then the baby would get bigger and I ran the risk of having my blood pressure spike again and then we’d be back at the hospital to perform an emergency c-section and baby and I would both be under stress.  He assured me I had done all I can do and 24 hours of labor is nothing to be ashamed of.  So my husband and I decided that while both baby and I were in good health, we should have the c-section.  At this point we called our parents and let them know.  They were concerned, but understood how we didn’t want to stress them out or have them stress me out!

I was in the OR at 7:05 p.m. getting a spinal block, and MariLuna Izabella Villa was born at 7:21 p.m.  She is the most perfect little thing.  I can’t believe I helped make her.  She is a good baby and took to breast feeding like a pro.  She is a little over a week old now and is sleeping at 4-5 hour intervals.  She has the chubbiest cheeks and loves to snuggle with her daddy and grandpa the most.  I knew I would love this baby, but I didn’t know how full my heart would feel to see my husband care for her the way he does.  It’s just amazing to see all of our family love on this little girl.  She is pretty amazing, and I’d do all over again tomorrow.   Every single time I was yacking my guts up or peed my pants, I told myself that it was ok because the only thing that mattered was that I was incubating a healthy baby, and I did.  Her birth didn’t go how I planned, but that’s ok, she’s healthy, happy and LOVED!

Here she is:

We just LOVE her to pieces, even at 2 in the morning when I can’t pump fast enough for her ferocious appetite!  Thank you all for your advice, prayers, and well wishes.

35 weeks

Actually, I will be 36 weeks this Thursday…time has stood still and gone by so fast at the same time for me.  Sometimes, I still can’t believe I am having a baby.  It really is the most amazing, surreal thing I’ve ever done.

I have made some crafty stuff and when I find my camera, I will take pictures. Promise.  Most projects are baby related because that’s all I seem to think about!  That, and we live in a small apartment, so the baby won’t have a nursery, it’ll have a nook in our bedroom that I want to spruce up.  I’ll share all that soon.

Just checking in letting you know I’m doing great and will have a baby to share before I know it!  The Dr. checked the baby’s positioning yesterday and it’s ready….but am I?

mother's day....

I hope everyone had an amazing Mother's Day! My first MD went well! My niece Mia suprised me with a beautiful bouquet of daisies, my brother Zeke gave me a huge sunflower he grew, and I got lots of hugs and kisses from my Grammy and Husband!

I wasn't feeling all that great Sunday, we are moving and I think anxiety is getting the best of me.  I spent the day with the Husband and that made me feel 100% better.  He has really come to know how to ease my crazy mind, and I appreciate that more than I hink he will ever know.

Lately I have been really "cup half full" which isn't in my character, but I am loving the newfound appreciation for the little things that this "little bean" has given me.

My Husband set up a corner of our new apartment for my craftiness, so I hope to be sharing pictures soon!! I am hoping the inspiration bug bites me soon!

baby book pages

So here are some of my favorite pages from the baby book I managed to whip out.  I kept it very simple in comparison to other pages I normally make.  I used patterned paper, ribbon, and cardstock only.  All images were created with my Cricut Expression and my friend Kelli's "Create A Critter" cartridge.  If you don't have it, seriously, get it!! It is too stinking cute!!  I tried to stay gender neutral, but I think my eyes are drawn to brighter, and more masculine colors, so I figure that doesn't matter cuz once the pages are covered with baby pictures no one will notice!  All the paper and ribbon was purchased at ScrapbookLand at one point or another.  This isn't all the book, I've made about 36 pages and need a bathtime, beach, grandparents, and a great grandma pages and I will officially be done with Baby Villa's first scrapbook! I haven't added any titles either, but have post-it notes on the pages for working titles or pictures to remember to take.  Wow! That was a ramble! Hope you like what I came up with!

This will be the title page I think I'm going to have it say "just hatched" with a newborn piture of the baby and all the birth details (name, weight, birth date...)
These are some of my favorite characters and pages
(this doggy looks like one of mine)
(no, the baby isn't japanese, i just miss sushi and can't wait to have some, and this panda was too cute not to cut, right?  I hand tore all the sushi)
(lil' stinker)
(this will be a family tree layout with all of our immediate family on the tree and them holding the baby on the opposite side)

Here's some more cute characters:
I think by the time I'm done with the book, I will have cut out all the items on the cartridge!  Hope you enjoyed!! I can't wait to start taking pictures of this baby! I'm almost at my half point, 17 weeks today, and so far, thank God, everything is good!

on being happy…

I’ve neglected my little piece of cyber space for so long! I feel so bad, and I’m sorry.  I haven’t been very inspired lately and well it all has to do with BEING PREGNANT!!!

Ahhhh! It feels so good to say!  I’m pregnant, and I knew it wouldn’t be a piece o’ cake, but man, I didn’t expect it to kick my ass so hard!!! The “morning” sickness has been more like an all day sickness, some days I can have a whole apple and water, and others I’m lucky if I even have any water at all!!  So needless to say, I haven’t been very crafty in between barfing and sleeping.

I’m at around 11 weeks now, and (knock on wood) I think Baby and I have reached a truce and I am slowly starting to feel better.  I hope so.

So I will be back soon (again, knock on wood) with lots of crafty craftiness that I am dreaming up!!

xoxo,

lizi

so busy…

There’s been a lot going on at my end,  the store has been inundated  with boxes from CHA, so I have not had much time to create.  That part of my job really does suck, you know seeing all the cute, new stuff and not being able to play!!

My hubby and I did go away for Valentine’s Day, we spent 4 whole days in Angeles Crest and had SO much fun!!! Can’t wait to scrap these!

All of those layout were made using basic grey products, we received a retailer’s pack at CHA and used their layout ideas as inspiration and changed them up a bit.

I made these layouts using Best Creations paper.  They are a local company, and they make the BEST glitter paper around!!  Any rhinestones are Zva Creative and flowers are Kaiser Craft.

I had a great, long weekend at the store!  It can be hard work at times, but having amazing ladies that keep you laughing make it worth my while.  As much as I can complain, I do love my job.

p.s. all of our engagement and wedding photos were taken by the fabulous Wentzu Chang and here’s her blog.  I can’t ever express how grateful I am for her taking the most amazing pictures of Arnie and I.  She read my thoughts completely and gave me pictures that I will always have and cherish.  I highly recommend you contact her if you are in need of a great photographer!
